CycleBuy says
- the TPG Rainier jacket is at the top of the First
Gear line of textile riding jackets and is
definitely one of our favorites. The Rainier jacket
is loaded with vents, pockets, adjustment cords, and
an under-helmet hood for cold, rainy rides, making
it a great choice for street, adventure, or dual
sport rides.
The d3o T3 intelligent armor combines comfort with
outstanding protection. If you are not familiar with
d3o armor, learn more at
http://www.d3o.com/d3o-technology/.
The included TPG Tech liner jacket can also be worn
as a stylish standalone waterproof and windproof
jacket. Add the optional TPG
Basegear and you will be able to comfortably
handle almost any weather you encounter on your
ride.
Rainier Fitment Notes
- the TPG Rainier jacket is a slim cut pattern. Our
test fit subject is a 5'10" tall male, weighing 225
pounds with a 46 1/2 inch chest. He normally wears
an XL jacket, but found the Rainier XL jacket to be
slightly too tight with the liner installed, causing
it to pull uncomfortably in the front armpit area.
With the liner removed, the XL Rainier jacket fit
was acceptable but still slightly tight. If you have
a thick chest or are carrying a few extra pounds,
you may need to go up a size on this slim cut
jacket. "Tall" cut jackets are available in L, XL,
and XXL sizes. |

d3o™ T3 intelligent shock absorption armor
in the shoulders and elbows provides superior
protection. Feel the difference–try on the new TPG
Rainier–lighter, less bulky, a more comfortable,
flexible fit plus the best protection in the
industry.
HYPERTEX™ PLUS Waterproof and Breathable
outer shell material keeps rain outside, but allows
inside humidity to escape.
Outer shell material is 100% 600 denier
nylon for abrasion resistance.
Kevlar® reinforced Teramid® underlay at the
crucial first point of contact on the shoulders and
elbows to keep your skin safe from the road.
Minimize the heat by utilizing 6 vents– two
8” chest vents with cord locks to securely hold them
open for airflow, two 9” sleeve cuff vents with
2-way zippers to regulate volume and two 9” rear
exhaust vents.
YKK® and RiRi® waterproof zippers protect
all exterior vents and pockets from moisture.
Need storage? Check this out–there are 10
exterior pockets! Four front cargo, 2 chest, two
front side (Left side contains a port for heated
apparel power cord or headphones for your favorite
listening device and both pockets contain cord pulls
to create a wind block around the bottom of the
jacket. To release the bungee, unzip the jacket from
the bottom up to find the cord locks just inside.),
key pocket on the left sleeve plus a large rear
storage with a 13” opening. All pockets designed to
deflect moisture.
Integrated in the collar is an
under-the-helmet rain hood– never again will water
run down your neck!
Reflective panels on the front, side, arm
and back keep you visible at night.
Adjustable waist and arm straps provide a
custom fit.
Drop-tail design ensures the jacket will not
ride up in the sitting position.
The main front, 2-way YKK® zipper is
shielded from moisture by a double storm flap with
rain gutter, held in place by spring-snap closures.
Inside the storm flap on the left side is a security
pocket with a red slider for visibility–easy access
to storage without having to unzip the jacket.
When not in use, hang your gloves on the
d-ring located below the lower right pocket.
If you prefer to use an active safety
device, there is a loop at the center back of the
jacket for the L.E.D. accessory light (Laws vary by
state. Please check your local laws for any
restrictions before using a light).
To block wind and retain warmth, sleeve
cuffs and fleece-lined collar are tipped with
neoprene
Jacket-to-pant 10” full conjunction zipper fits
easily through zipped liner portal and can be sewn
onto your favorite pair of riding pants.
Standalone jacket included as a zip-in
liner; fabric is a 3-layer laminate that is water
and windproof and micro fleece lined to retain
warmth. For airflow, there are 2 chest vents that
line up with the chest vents on the outer jacket.
A Firstgear standard; inside every jacket
there is a phone pocket on the left side and a
map/cargo pocket on the right side. The TPG Rainier
has these pockets in both the liner and the jacket.
So, whether the liner is in or out, the internal
pockets are in the same place.
